Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists (OT) help people participate in their desired occupations with the therapeutic use of everyday activities, based on the client and their families personal interests and needs. OT considers the complex relationship between the client, the activity, and the environment in which the activity takes place. OT’s have extensive training on the the brain and body, sensory processing, motor planning as well as the impact an individual’s mental health has on function.

Evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents and adults with the following difficulties:

• • Developmental Delays

  • Sensory Processing Disorder

  • Self-Regulation difficulties including problems with sleep, frequent meltdowns/tantrums and rigidity in play

  • Gross motor and coordination skills

  • Fine motor or visual motor skills, including handwriting, cutting and tying shoes

  • Planning and sequencing skills (motor planning)

  • Play skills such as difficulty playing with others, lack of social engagement or repetitive play

  • Self-care tasks such as getting self dressed, toilet training and using utensils during meal time

  • Life Skills such as meal preparation, laundry, money management and other daily tasks

  • Developmental Trauma

  • Social Skills
