Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy 

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapists are Speech Pathologists who have done intensive additional post graduate education and training regarding the structure and function of the orofacial complex and how it impacts breathing, sleeping, speech, feeding, swallowing and overall health and well being. At Redwood, we target oral habit elimination, nasal hygiene, mindful oral awareness, reduction of compensatory patterns that are causing more problems than they are helping.  

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapists work with patients and their families who are experiencing Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB), TMJ dysfunction/ pain, tongue ties / tethered oral tissues, etc. 

OMT involves regular sessions with a qualified therapist who can prescribe, monitor and adjust oral exercises and the focus of therapy as needed to fit the individual patient.  Patients and their families are educated throughout the therapy process and are given home exercises to continue at home in between sessions.  

At Redwood, both Ashley Pilon M.S. L-SLP CCC-SLP, Morgan Broussard M.S. L-SLP CCC-SLP, and Carly Wilson M.S. L-SLP CCC-SLP have been trained through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM).
